ADF Update Service - Issue 21

October 2009

It's been a few weeks since the last ADF Update which heralded the proposed revisions to Part F England & Wales. Since then the consultation period for the revised changes has come and gone, with all the major players and trade associations submitting their responses and behind the scenes we trust the final document is now being finalised.

At present there has not been a date set for publication, so all we can say is that the new Approved Document will be ready some time in 2010. We expect to see it at some point in the first half of the year, possibly not coming into full effect until later in the year. As soon as we know more, we will let you know in order to give you as much time as possible to prepare.

If you need a reminder of the main proposed changes from the 2006 document to the 2010 version, please click here.

In the meantime, if you have any questions on the current document, as usual please contact us at experts@partf.co.uk.

Titon have been busy expanding our ventilation product range and our information services over the last few months. Please read the article below on our whole house ventilation products. The completely new Titon website (www.titon.co.uk) is now live and contains plenty of background material on Building Regulations and Ventilation to assist you in your work. This will be updated and added to in the coming weeks and of course, like the ADF Update Service, you can subscribe to the latest product and company news relevant to your line of work. We hope you like the site.

Titon extends its range of ultra-efficient whole house heat recovery units

Titon has extended the range of its SAP Appendix Q and EST Best Practice compliant whole house heat recovery ventilation units with the HRV2 Q Plus and HRV3 Q Plus. It has also launched a mid-capacity version - the HRV1.5 Q Plus. Hot on the heels of its revolutionary HRV1 Q Plus unit, the new models are designed for use in dwellings with between three and nine wet rooms.

The new units in the range are sized for loft spaces and are much more compact than similarly performing units. Coupled with very low power consumption and a highly efficient heat exchanger - up to 91% - they are also incredibly efficient for their size. This advanced performance has also been confirmed following independent SAP Q testing by the BRE. All the units are also EST Best Practice compliant - which will assist in achieving high dwelling energy efficiency ratings.

Designed with the installer in mind, the units have quick fix mounting brackets to make installation quick and simple, as well as features such as a standard 15mm condensate drain connection, quick commissioning facility with 5 or 10 minute boost delay and the ports accept either 125mm or 150mm diameter ducting with no adaptors required. The units are also low weight to save transit handling costs and installation time.

In addition, the units have a versatile energy-saving boost control with adjustable over-run timer, to ensure that unit cannot be accidentally left in boost mode when used with the non-latching (momentary) switch. There is also a full commission facility for ultimate efficiency with 5, 10 15 or 20 minute boost delay. The units feature full frost protection and are demand control ventilation ready.

Naturally, Titon supplies a full range of ducting and ancillaries. Alongside the recently launched HRV1 Q Plus, Titon has also added the HRV1 compact whole house ventilation system to the range, for projects where EST Best Practice SAP Appendix Q compliance is not required.

Tyson Anderson, Sales and Marketing Director, Titon said: "We have been really pleased by the response to our whole house ventilation products - as some of the most efficient products on the market we anticipated they’d be popular. By adding these larger capacity units to the range, we have products available for all types of dwellings - from a small city centre apartment to a large energy efficient house with lots of bedrooms and wet rooms."
